New Camera looks good

After many years of having an SLR, both film and digital I decided to try something different. I now have a 'bridge' camera which by definition bridges the point and shoot camera and the SLR. The camera I purchased after quite a lot of deliberation is the newly introduced Panasonic Lumix FZ38.I am pleasantly surprised by the amount of technology it has and the 16x super zoom is quite amazing. I have spent quite a bit of time getting the feel of the controls and the 100+ photographs I have taken so far have been really good. Apart from being slightly smaller and having the non-interchangeable lenses, I cannot see much difference when compared to my old SLR. In fact the clarity of the photos is astounding and with the addition of HD Video it all adds up to a really great package. The only downside I have found so far is the 'noise' in the photos when having the zoom fully extended - mind you at 3mp this extends to 950mm and really needs a tripod. Having said that, I have had the ISO setting on auto since I started to use it, so I will play about with it a bit more and see the results from that. It took quite a bit for me to change from SLR and I suppose at the end of the day they are still king in camera choice terms, but I am glad I decided to change and find out more about this type of camera.

A couple of shots taken with the camera
